Art and Interior Design are closely linked. To keep up on what the latest works of contemporary art top interior designer Michele Safra had a look at Art Basel Miami.
In this blog, Michele chooses to write about renowned American artist Dale Chihuly who has returned to unveil his most comprehensive garden exhibition to date in Miami as part of Art at Fairchild, the seasonal program that invites international artists to display their works throughout the 83-acre tropical oasis. The exhibition will be on view from December 6, 2014 to May 31, 2015. Special art viewings will be held during this time, including night viewings and activities during Art Basel Miami Beach.
Chihuly’s magnificent works of art are installed throughout many of the Garden exhibits, including the lush Rainforest, vibrant Tropical Plant Conservatory, picturesque Bailey Palm Glade Vista, and the new Wings of the Tropics exhibit, where they are surrounded by hundreds of colorful and exotic butterflies. Visitors can admire the luminous works of art reflecting off the surface of the palm-lined lakes and water lily pools, uniting art with the magnificent colors of the tropical landscape.
Chihuly is credited with revolutionizing the Studio Glass movement and elevating the perception of the glass medium from the realm of craft to fine art. He is renowned for his ambitious architectural installations around the world, in historic cities, museums, and gardens. Chihuly’s work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide.
